Fashion Styling

By: Hannah Khoudra, Laila Alnaqbi, Timothy Chen

The goal of this styling editorial project was to create a visual story that reflects our client’s androgynous yet glamorous identity, a deliverable aligning with her creative vision in the fashion industry. My group was tasked with styling a lace black gown provided by our professor for the shoot. The aim was to balance its delicate, feminine qualities with a sharp, gender-neutral edge. The challenge lay in transforming the gown’s sensuality into something modern and bold, staying true to our client’s unique style while infusing the shoot with our personal creative interpretations.

Client / Audience:

This project was for a fashion styling class. We had to create an editorial for our assigned “client”

Experience:

The experience of this project was a true collaborative effort from start to finish. We began with mood boarding, envisioning the tone and aesthetic we wanted to convey—balancing androgyny with glamour. Once the vision was clear; we scouted locations around NYC that would amplify this energy that we wanted to evoke. We then curated multiple looks pulling from our own wardrobes to compliment the garment provided to us. Working closely as a team felt like a successful shared creative process which resulted in a cohesive editorial that reflected our collective vision and effort for the “client”.

Outcome:

The outcome of the project was a visually striking 7-page editorial spread that showcased our styling approach. Each page effectively captured the balance between the lace black gown’s feminine qualities and a sharp, androgynous aesthetic. The deliverables included high-quality images, meticulously styled to reflect the client’s vision. The final editorial not only highlighted the fashion choices but also told a compelling visual story that aligned with the client’s identity and creative direction.
